Which Web browser do you use? If you're like most people, the answer is
probably Internet Explorer.
Perhaps you use IE because it came pre-installed on your PC. Or because
it's the de facto standard for Web developers. Maybe you continue to use it
simply because it's ubiquitous. After all, it's the most popular Web browser
out there, so it must be the best, right?
Not necessarily. Internet Explorer might be widely accepted, but it's
certainly not the only game in town. The current crop of alternative browsers
offers much of the speed, flexibility, and power of Internet Explorer--plus
some appealing extras that the behemoth browser doesn't have. Here are a few of
my favorite alternative browsers.

|
Opera 6.04 is a fast and versatile Internet browser that's got plenty of options
for customization. If you want speedy Web surfing, check this one out. (Shareware/Windows)
Mozilla 1.0
offers the ability to change the look of your browser using skins. It also lets
you display multiple Web pages in a single tabbed window. (Free/Windows)
NetCaptor 7.0.1
also offers a tabbed interface, and gives you the option of opening groups of
pages (known as CaptorGroups) with a single click. (Shareware/Windows)
Remember, trying out a different Web browser is kind of like buying a
new pair of shoes: You shouldn't toss it out until you've had a chance to
really use it for a while. Once you do, you just might find that you'll never
go back.
